Three key MQM leaders summoned to London

KARACHI  - At least three leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MM) leaders on Wednesday have been summoned to London to discuss the ongoing situation of Karachi.

According to sources, the leaders who will head to London are Dr. Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jalil and Wasim Akhtar.

During the meeting, the participants would also debate over the name of Karachi’s next mayor.

Earlier, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the new Karachi mayor will not allow corruption. Rizvi said that MQM will struggle on constitutional and legal fronts to empower the mayors of Karachi and other cities of Sindh.

Special prayers of Thanksgiving were offered in Lal Qila Ground, Karachi, over MQM’s success in local body elections. The event was attended by MQM Rabita Committee members and all the local body representatives belonging to MQM in Karachi.

Senator Tanvirul Haq Thanvi led the prayers on this occasion.

Holding a press conference on this occasion, Haider Abbas Rizvi said that instead of empowering the mayors, the 2013 local body act took the powers away from them. He said that MQM has already rejected the act and will now struggle on constitutional and legal fronts to empower the mayors.

Rizvi thanked the people of Karachi for voting MQM in the local body elections in Karachi.
